I have used my nose mask since 2022. There are a lot of used HEPA H11 filter.

I weared it for shopping, visiting friends and seeing Doctor durig COVID-19 period.

And I weared it do home removation in basement, painiting, installation floor, repair washroom and more.

I felt there was a smell at airport in Beijing in spring, 2015, The face mask can not brock the  smell. I changed to wear the activated carbon face mask, which is better. I had the pain in chest when I breath in 3rd day.  Then, I started to have dry cough. My trip as 10 days in China.

I had to see Dr. after in 2 months after return Toronto. I spent C$200 for treatment. Then I started to search the information about the face mask. I found there is a air leaking promblem on face mask, VOC's in air pollution. 

The both activated carbon fibre and HEPA can treat the air pollution, remove smoke, ash and more. The face mask should be no air leaking at all.....

There were 125mm rain at noon in Toronto on July 16th, 2004. There are flooding on DVP and Railway station in DT.

There are 6 houses with sewer backup in the basement close my house. The dirty water is more than 20cm above the floor.

I weared the HEPA filter nose mask during the time Toronto had a blanket of wildfire smoke. There is dust on the face of HEPA filter (left one) , the right is a a new one .

The more dark position on HEPA filter are face to the holes on nose mask front cover.

The HEPA filter is more dark on the back side in below photo. We catched the wildfire smoke since our nose mask no air leaking. Our nose mask blocked the dust and odor from the wildfire smoke.

I wear my HEPA H11 nose mask to make a small 750g bags of pellet carbon from 25kg bag. There are dust in the air during packaging. I change the filter every half day. The HEPA filter can block the dust of carbon and keep the nose clean. 

I used 8 HEPA filters to fill the carbon into small bags and sealed 2780 bags. I accept this order because I have the nose mask.

The nose mask has advantage in no leaking and brock dust is very important. The nose mask has brocked the wildfire smoke, too.

You easy to test the smell of the wildfire smoke if you wear leaking face mask.

I tested the quality of air PM0.3um was 270,000 pieces/L yeasterday. It is 720,000 todaylate afternoon. The treated air index is reduced to 158000 by our Rocky Air HEPA H12 purifier. All the data is in following photo.

We also test the electrostatic filter air purifier (sample). The performance is better. Reduce the PM0.3um to 139000.

Canadian wildfires are continuing to send heavy clouds of smoke south, from Northern Ontario and Quebec, through both provinces and into the U.S.

The thick haze has triggered air quality warnings for Chicago, Detroit and Toronto.

This week, Chicago is experiencing the worst air quality of any other city in the world, according to IQAir.com. At its peak, the air quality index on June 27 was about 187 (a healthy air quality index is one below 50).

The visible distance is 2.4km in Chicage today.

They found that people who lived within 50 kilometres of a wildfire in the past 10 years were 10 per cent more likely to develop brain tumours, and five per cent more likely to have lung cancer, compared to people living further away.

The wildfire smoke is every where from east cost to west in Canada. The PM2.5 particles reduce the visibility. 

You should wear very good quality of face mask (no leaking) in order to avoid the lung cancer. 

According to National Cancer Center's report, the number of lung cancer inireased by 300% from 1990 to 2017 due to air pollution, 14.4% of death is coming from PM2.5 air pollution. 

A higher risk of getting cancer compared to those who don't. Wearing an N95 mask to fend off smoke during outdoor activities to reduce part of smoke.

The wild fire burned everthing: trees, homes, glass, trucker, cars, animals and more. The visible distance is reduced. 

So the wild fire smoke is black with smell and odor, it is toxic. The smoke is flying thousand KM away. The are small particle less them PM2.0 will go into blood. It is harmfull for your body. 

I had cough in third days during my 7 days business trip from Canada to China in 2013, the visible distance was less than 2KM in Taiyuan. There was very high air pollution in China. I feel to wear activated carbon face mask is much better than medical face mask. The medical face mask is uneless. 

I had dry cough for two months in Toronto after return from China. I had to see my family doctor. I spent C$200 on drug.

Therefore, I started to do research on face mask, and decide to make the nose mask in 2017.

Can wearing a mask help protect me from smoke?

Wildfire smoke is a mixture of gases, particles, and water vapour¹. Particulate matter, particularly fine particulate matter, is the main public health concern with wildfire smoke. Like other air quality issues, a multi-layered approach is recommended to reduce the health effects of wildfire smoke^1,2. Personal protective equipment like respirators (such as N95, KN95 or P100) may be used to reduce exposure to wildfire smoke but are most effective when used as part of a multi-layered approach. Other important layers include staying indoors with doors and windows closed as long as temperatures remain comfortable, cleaning indoor air, and minimizing outdoor activities.

Dust masks and medical masks (also referred to as disposable masks or surgical masks) do not offer protection against the particles or gases in wildfire smoke as they do not tightly seal around the face as properly fit respirators do. Respirators are effective for filtering fine particulate matter (as small as 0.3um), but do not protect the user from gases in wildfire smoke. Proper fit and use are critical for respirators (such as N95, KN95 or P100) to provide the level of protection expected. Users should follow the manufacturer's instructions for use, including performing a "seal check" to determine proper fit. People at increased risk of adverse effects from wildfire smoke, such as those with heart or lung problems or older adults, should consult with their health care professionals before using a respirator, as using a respirator can make breathing more difficult.​
